UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL [ go up ]
Environmental Systems is a full service underground storage tank company and Licensed by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ( NJDEP) for removal, closure, testing and remediation company. Residential and commercial tanks up to 50,000 gallons can be removed by Environmental Systems in house staff. Heating oil tanks can be easily removed and remediated if necessary and Environmental Systems participates in the NJDEP’s grant & Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) program.
SITE REMEDIATION [ go up ]
Environmental Systems provides petroleum and chemical remediation services Soil and ground water remediation can sometimes be complex and requires experience and expertise.
Sometimes contamination plumes cross property lines and require different tiered approaches to clean-up. Environmental Systems has developed patent pending “ Bio-Remediation” technology which has been successfully used to remediate sites. This “Bio Remediation” technology substantially reduces project cost and closure time. Remediation of Trichloroethylene (TCE) and Perchloroethylene (PCE) can also been successfully remediated using this technology.
Previously environmental contractors would relocate and move structures that had soil and ground water contamination identified below the footing. Now these structures can remain and remediation of soil & groundwater can be completed saving the property owner thousands of dollars.
SITE INVESTIGATION [ go up ]
Environmental Systems can provide custom Environmental Phase I & Phase II Assessments to comply with ASTM and Financial Institution requirements for “Due Diligence”. With over 20,000 Known Contaminated Sites in New Jersey the chances of finding one of these contaminated sites is great. Properties can be contaminated from offsite and onsite sources such as buried oil tanks, leaking pipe lines, illegal dumps and disposal of petroleum products and chemicals.
Environmental Systems utilizes company owned equipment and manpower to complete projects without the need for subcontractors.
With Environmental Systems “State of the Art” geotechnical subsurface evaluation equipment, soil and ground water samples can be collected through any type of soil conditions including bedrock to a depth of 100 feet below surface grade level. With the average commercial pollution clean-up exceeding $ 100,000 the property buyer must protect his performing property “Due Diligence” prior to purchase. Once the property is purchased and the deed is transferred the new property owner can be held liable by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for remediation costs.
BROWNFIELD SPECIALISTS [ go up ]
Remediation of industrial properties and redevelopment can be complex. Only a knowledgeable full service environmental firm can provide the expertise needed for successful project completion.
BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT requires a team project effort composed of civil & structural engineers, environmental and remediation specialists. Environmental Systems can provide entire project services from conception to completion. Returning abandoned, contaminated properties to viable productive uses not only stimulates economic growth, but also insures protection of the environment.
VAPOR INTRUSION TESTING [ go up ]
Environmental Systems provides VAPOR INTRUSION TESTING services which may be required.
VAPOR INTRUSION SAMPLING [ go up ]
The presence of volatile organic chemicals in contaminated soil or ground water offers the potential for chemical vapors to migrate through the subsurface soil or specific pathways (piping, cables, underground utility lines) thereby impacting the indoor air quality of building or residential structures.
The NJDEP has developed specific testing protocols and reporting requirements. Commercial and residential properties that have onsite/offsite ground water contamination issues may also have ”Vapor Intrusion” Issues. Chemical intrusion into a structure may cause serious health issues to occupants of the structure. Environmental Systems provides these specialized services in addition to providing Vapor Intrusion Remediation Services.
ISRA COMPLIANCE [ go up ]
The Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) which is implemented by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) imposes certain preconditions on the sale, transfer or closure of “Industrial Establishments” in the generation, manufacture, refining, transportation, treatment, storage handling or disposal of hazardous substances and wastes. This law applies to small or large business which handle hazardous substances or meet any of the above requirements.
Environmental Systems can provide sampling plans, remedial action plans, cost estimates for clean-up and remediation activities. Environmental Systems concentrates on minimizing the duration and expense of this potentially burdensome process through the diligent application of engineering & project management expertise
ECOLOGICAL RISK ASSESSMENT [ go up ]
Ecological evaluations and risk assessment are conducted at contaminated sites to address actual impacts or the potential for adverse ecological effects resulting from site related contamination.
Ecological Risk Assessment can be used to evaluate the effects of alternative remediation technologies and establish site specific clean-up levels for the selected environmental remedy that protect on/offsite receptors. The Baseline Ecological Evaluation (BEE) has proved to be an efficient and cost effective screening process and is required by the NJDEP to be completed by the property owner
INDOOR AIR QUALITY INVESTIGATION [ go up ]
Many homes and buildings in New Jersey suffer from “Sick Building Syndrome”. Sick Building Syndrome is condition caused by indoor pollutants that adversely affect the occupant’s health.
Poor indoor air quality is a cause of Sick Building Syndrome in addition to issues cause by Vapor Intrusion contamination. Poor indoor air quality can be result of poor HVAC maintenance, substandard building materials, offsite/onsite pollution or bad general ventilation. Environmental Systems can provide air testing services designed for residential/ commercial buildings and provide a detailed report of the investigation along with remediation recommendations.
Poor Indoor Air Quality can also be caused by MOLD and Fungi contamination. Building structures with high moisture levels can be the perfect breeding area for MOLD. Mold contamination can trigger autoimmune defenses that cause adverse health effects. Sensitivity to mold and fungi may trigger allergic responses that may lead to serious health conditions. Environmental Systems provides mold remediation services at competitive rates.
WETLAND DELINEATION/WATERFRONT & PINELAND DEVELOPMENT PERMITS [ go up ]
Environmental Systems provides Wetland Delineation services along with NJDEP general permitting services.
